Ginger Was Here Rye Ale With Ginger and Lime

Fresh drinking with honey flavors

Brew Notes: Crisp clean grains, rye malt and with a hint of spice to separate this beer from traditional ales, “Ginger Was Here” is one of our favorites to have on tap. A tempting flavor backed up by the salutary, spicy hints of ginger and lime, this light and smooth ale delivers a fresh drinking experience. Chinook and Citra hops build the flavor with honey to dry out the beer and add lightness. The honey is fermentable and no honey-flavor is present, which means that you won’t be wrestling bears or swatting bees to get in a sip.

“We just like the taste”

Bonus Points: Is Ginger the name of the beer, the ingredients, the woman or the cat? Or maybe all four? Ginger may be found more frequently in a Martha Stewart cookbook than in a brew recipe but the spice really shines throughout this beer. Is ginger a spice or an herb? The question has spurred on heated debates between chefs, botany professors and people who like to endlessly argue for no apparent reason. But, according to Geri Halliwell (aka Ginger Spice of The Spice Girls) it is clearly a spice (her fame and fortune are dependent upon it)… but we don’t really care either way. We just like the taste.
